Service Academy 23 February 2023

St Paul's Services Academy is three days away from completing the annual Northern region induction camp, hosted by the NZ Defence Force at Whenuapai airbase. This is a demanding camp with early starts and late finishes which stretches over two weeks, including the weekend! I am very proud of the resilience of our young men who approach task after task, whether it be problem solving, fitness or strength endurance, with enthusiasm and a calm and steady approach. Students gain Level 2 and 3 NCEA credits through this camp and the ones which will follow. The Services Academy is a program run by the Ministry of Education and NZDF in nine Auckland schools. Many St Paul's students excel in this environment which is a testament to their families and our committed teaching staff back on Richmond Road. Where many students and other schools struggle with the demanding fitness and seemingly endless problem solving tasks, St Paul's thrives, embraces the challenge and works as a cohesive unit to get the job done. Well done gentlemen—you should be very proud of your positive "Team first" attitude, it doesn't go unnoticed.
