Careers Day 2023

Our guest speakers at morning assembly started the day speaking of pathways and subjects to take when they are selecting their options for 2024. Past students present: Joseph Johnston (4th year medical student), Jodeci Namulalulu-Sio (doctor) and Anthony Vitale (electrician).

We had 22 attendees from five of the seven universities present, including UNITEC, private training organisations and careers departments from the Defence Force, Plumbing, and NZ Rail.

The students were engaged and found the information invaluable.

PlaceMaker’s Construction Bus Tour

St Paul’s College had the opportunity to participate in the pilot PlaceMaker’s Construction Bus Tour on Thursday 27 July alongside Liston College and Waitakere College. Mana Ashford, Maori Engagement Lead, provided our students with a professional, flexible programme allowing students to develop an understanding of what it takes to have a career in construction and the variety of roles available.

We found the MBIE, Hawkins, Firth and Fletcher Stonefields staff offered exemplary professional skills and a mentoring/teaching style that provides the optimum opportunities for students to develop an informed opinion on the technical and transferable skills necessary to successfully engage in the construction industry. All of the staff had a holistic approach to all our students, which is evident when gaining feedback from the students.
