St Paul’s Students Encounter the Scottish Play

“Is this a dagger I see before me?”

Recently students from Ms Haybittle’s Year 11 English class, who were studying Shakespeare’s Macbeth, performed scenes from the play in the presence of Headmaster Simento and their classmates.

This was their first experience performing Shakespeare. Fortunately our new English teacher, Ms Alice Bragg, is a graduate in Drama from the University of Auckland, and was able to introduce performance techniques to the keen group of students.

The timeless appeal of the play was not lost on the students, who are now busy preparing for their Term 3 exams, in which they will be discussing the powerful language of Shakespeare’s drama.
