This week a number of St Paul's College staff offered to give up their afternoon to serving at the St Vincent de Paul foodbank in Onehunga as part of our participation in Social Justice Week 2023. The theme for the week was "Peace begins with you!" The Vinnies team welcomed us with open arms. We started with an introduction session where we got to know the team, followed by the usual health and safety briefing and then got into the mahi. Our work was packing food parcels for those most in need. Families received frozen mince and chicken, butter, ice creams, and a number of other items. It was an honour to be able to serve, even in just a simple way, and for the rest of our staff to see what our Young Vinnies get up to regularly when they sign up to serve at the foodbank. The feedback was so great that we are considering having another staff service session in Term 4.
