1st XI Cricket

Well done to our 1st XI cricket team, who stepped up a grade into Senior A afternoon cricket this term, moving from T20 (20 over format) into 40 overs was always going to challenge our players, but in a tribute to their resilience and ability to adapt, the team placed second in the grade!

More time at the crease meant more opportunities for our young cricketers to score runs, take wickets and practice through repetition. A highlight for the season was an innings of 88 runs, scored by Solomon Nash earlier in the season. It's with mixed emotions that we farewell Atelea Barron-Afeaki, Justus Tele'a and Enoka Sului, three committed and talented cricketers who have been in the 1st XI for four seasons. We will miss Enoka's power, we will miss Atelea's enthusiasm, we will miss Justus' competitiveness and infectious energy. Justus and Enoka were both selected in NZC's inaugural Pacifika schools team, neither of these young men had played much cricket before attending St Paul's. As a College, we are very proud to offer a wide variety of sports and a diverse array of opportunities for our young men to flourish. Thank you for your service to cricket gentlemen, we hope to see you on the sidelines in the future.

Touch Rugby Tournament

On Wednesday 28 November, the Year 5-6 students from Marist Herne Bay and the Year 5-8 students from St Joseph's School joined with St Paul's Year 7&8s for an action packed Touch Rugby Tournament.

The students were put into 12 teams with a mix of all three schools in each team. The houses from St Paul's and Marist and prominent Catholic figures were used to create the team names. The teams played five rounds of pool games followed by a play-off finals round.

The play off for 1st and 2nd was a very exciting game which was a draw at full time so we went to drop off...seeing both teams with just two players each left, before Mapili Kali scored the winning try for his team.

1st place went to Team Galilee, 2nd place to Team St Paul with 3rd place going to Team Jordan. A big thank you and well done to our Year 9 and 10 students who were coaches and referees for the tournament. Fantastic leadership and compassion shown by these young men towards the younger students.
