News From Your Library 22 March 2024

The library is open before school and during lunchtimes and is a busy, engaging, boisterous place with students studying, reading and playing games. Most lunchtimes there are numerous groups playing Uno, and a competition will be held during the last week of Term 1 to determine the school Uno Champion. Chess has become extremely popular and we have six chess sets, and a number of books about playing chess, available to the students. A jigsaw with 1000 pieces is being completed in the breakout room attracting both students and teachers needing a bit of timeout. In all the library activities, Year 7 to Year 13 students mix together, share ideas and have a bit of fun.

The Readers Cup Competition is held in late June, between dozens of Auckland secondary schools, and St Paul's will enter one team consisting of five students. The contenders will read a set of six books, given out on 28 March, and if chosen will compete with other school teams to answer quiz questions from these books. Practice sessions will be held on Wednesdays during the first break in the library.
