PwC Pacific Village "Connect, Inspire & Aspire" High School Event 2024

PwC, Global Professional Services firm, ran a "Pacific Village" Connect, Inspire & Aspire High School event for young Pasifika Commerce students. Five young men in Year 13 were given the opportunity to connect with 100 other young Pasifika people for the day as well as Partners, and Senior Staff at PwC who are part of the PwC Pacific Village Team.

The young men were welcomed by Dr Monique Faleafa, a Partner at PwC who discussed with the students her career and pathway to PwC. They then had a panel of Pasifika Employees ranging from IT professional to Senior Accountants talanoa about what they enjoyed about the corporate world and the PwC environment, their individual pathways and advice they had for the Pasifika youth of Auckland. Students enjoyed a fantastic Pasifika lunch before settling into a tough afternoon of problem solving. Our young people had to work with five people from other schools on a business topic/problem affecting Pasifika youth. Our young men stood out with their presentation skills where all groups were judged on their business solution, their presentation skills and research of some very difficult topics.

The young men left inspired with their eyes open wide with the possibilities that can arise from hard work and a willingness to put themselves out there and take opportunities.

We thank PwC for the opportunity to learn and be inspired from some amazing Pasifika leaders in the corporate world.

Otago University Dental School

Last week four students got the opportunity to visit the Otago Dental School to explore dentistry as a profession. The students got an opportunity to do practicals with dental students and teachers to demonstrate to them through the interactive exhibits and all parts of being a dental student in Otago Dental school. The students got an insight on how to get admission into the school. The trip ignited the student's passion for dentistry, leaving them with a newfound aspiration to pursue careers in the dental field. We would like to thank Mrs Brayshaw for giving us the opportunity to go on this trip.
