Samoan Language Week 2025

'Ia malu lou sā. Folau i lagimā – A well-grounded self, is a successful self'.

Our recent celebration of the Samoan language was a fast-paced event, with students from various year levels proudly showcasing their culture to the entire school.

This year's theme, "Ia malu lou sā. Folau i lagimā - A well-grounded self, is a successful self," was beautifully articulated by our speakers. They emphasised the importance of culture in shaping their identities and providing a strong foundation. They also highlighted the significance of integrating their cultural heritage into their daily lives here at St Paul’s.

A special congratulations goes to Jerome Tufeao (Year 9) for his insightful speech at our Tuesday morning assembly. We also extend our sincere thanks to Josiah Tupa’i (Year 13) and his team, who led a memorable chapel service. Josiah's exceptional oratory skills shone as he immersed the school community in rich Samoan traditions.

The week culminated on Thursday with students proudly wearing their traditional attire. This was a wonderful display of the pride our boys take in representing their culture through their appearance. Our staff also shared a delicious Samoan spread, bringing everyone together to enjoy the rich flavours and warmth of Samoan hospitality.

Well done to the St Paul’s Community.
