Ash Wednesday on 18 February marked the official beginning of Lent, the 40 days of prayer, fasting and reflection leading up to Easter. It serves as a "spiritual wake-up call," grounding us in two primary thoughts: mortality and repentance. Every student received ashes on their foreheads, as a reminder that life is temporary and that we are all finite.
During these 40 days, we have asked the students to reflect on the Three Pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.
Every Thursday, we journey with Christ towards Golgotha/Calvary in the chapel with our Stations of the Cross liturgies. We remember how, after being condemned, Jesus was forced to carry his own cross through the narrow, crowded streets of Jerusalem while enduring immense physical exhaustion and public derision. The ‘Way of Sorrows’ represents one of the most poignant moments in the Passion of Christ. The trek was a testament to his endurance and sacrifice. For many, this journey symbolizes resilience, humility and the willingness to bear burdens for the sake of others.
