Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
Nau mai, haere mai ki tō tātou kura.
Ki ngā ākonga hou, ngā kaiako hou, me ō koutou whānau, whakatau mai, haere mai.
Ki ngā ākonga tawhito me ō rātou whānau, nau mai hoki mai ki te kura mō tēnei tau hou.
There was a special feeling in the air, a sense of possibility, growth, and connection. The first day is not just the start of learning programmes and timetables; it is the beginning of new relationships, new challenges, new successes, and the excitement of new beginnings.
We gathered together for our mihi whakatau to warmly welcome our new students, whānau, and staff into our kura community.
It was wonderful to see familiar faces returning and to greet those who are joining us for the first time. Whether you are stepping into our school grounds for the very first time or returning to continue your learning journey, you belong here.
Mr Samuel Tanielu, representing the College, brought a lot of warmth and wisdom in his speech on behalf of the kura.
Mr Donovan Bickford, as a returning teacher, offered his support and guidance to the new students and staff. His tautoko (support) really helped everyone feel welcomed and included in the school's whānau.
Our kura stands strongly on the value of whanaungatanga; building meaningful relationships and strengthening the bonds between us. Whanaungatanga reminds us that we are not alone in our learning. We support one another, celebrate one another, and grow together. Through kindness, respect, and shared experiences, we create a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and connected.
This year, we uphold our school pillar: Hikaka ki te mahi – Love of Work. Hikaka means to be eager, enthusiastic, and passionate. It is about approaching our learning with energy and commitment. When we show hikaka ki te mahi, we take pride in our efforts, we persevere when learning feels challenging, and we celebrate the joy that comes from doing our best. It is not just about finishing a task, it is about embracing the journey of learning with a positive and determined spirit.
May this year be filled with learning, laughter, achievement, and strong friendships.
May we walk together with manaakitanga, respect, and unity.
May we show hikaka in all that we do.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui.
Let us begin this new year with open hearts and eager minds.
Tēnā koutou katoa.
Mrs Rangimarie Fiu
