University Scholarships for Year 13 Students and NCEA Resources

MoneyHub, a consumer finance website, has published a guide to hundreds of scholarships for any student planning to start university in 2023. The comprehensive list includes scholarships offered by every university as well as those specifically available to local students. A list of privately-funded, Maori, Pacific and International university scholarships completes the list.

Applications close throughout the year, with tens of millions of dollars available.

University of Otago Scholarships for Māori Students

The University of Otago has two scholarships that are currently open for Māori students, closing August 15th, and an online health sciences information session on September 1st. We encourage Māori students to apply, and register for the session should they wish to find more information about life at Otago as a Māori Health Sciences student.

A University of Otago Entrance Scholarship (closing August 15)

A value upwards of $13 000 towards fees or accommodation cost at the University of Otago. Applicants must be in the process of completing Year 13 and intend to enroll into full time study at the University of Otago. Click HERE for more information. 

Tū Kahika (closing August 15) A Foundation Year Health Science Scholarship Programme for Māori

Supported by the Ministry of Health, Tū Kahika supports Māori students through a two-semester Health Science programme run within Foundation Year. Tū Kahika provides wrap-around support and prepares Māori students academically for their first year of tertiary study and a future career in health. Click HERE for more information.

We have three Law at Otago presentations scheduled for Auckland this month - all run from 6.30 until 8.00 pm.

  • Thursday 18 August: St Cuthbert’s College Auditorium

Waikato University

For those students and staff who are not able to attend our on-campus Open Days, we will again hosting a Virtual Open Day later this year on Wednesday 17 August. We also ask that students register HERE for this event. 

We also want to encourage students to take a look at the comprehensive range of scholarships we have on offer for 2023. Our scholarships programme saw over 900 offers made to students in 2022.

University of Canterbury

Year 13 students can apply HERE for their selected Halls of Residence if they are planning to study and live at UC in 2023. Applications are due by 21 September, with Common Confidential Reference Forms (CCRFs) due by 15 September.

2023 Youth Search and Rescue

Applications for the 2023 Youth Search and Rescue program are now open for 14 to 16 year-old students (14 yrs by 1 February 2023). Applications close 30 September 2022

Youth Search and Rescue is a 3-year program which involves weekly classroom styled learning followed by weekend adventure-based education in the outdoors to implement the new skills gained. We train, mentor and develop our rangatahi to become New Zealand's next generation of Search and Rescue and Emergency Management volunteers.
