This is an important week in the school year because it is the time when we test how much we have been learning this term. The school exams are taken very seriously by both the staff and the students. The school community is reminded about all the requirements for sitting exams – being prepared, reflecting on the work being studied and working with your teacher to achieve the best possible results. Mr Simento and the senior leaders have reminded everybody how important school exams are to prepare for the NCEA external examinations in the years to come.
Ms Haybittle interviewed Xavier Cocker, Pharrell Hughes and Xavier Butt, all from 9HMS, about the importance of exams. The boys agreed that although exams can be stressful, they are an important preparation for the future. They said that they were preparing for exams by going over their work at home, writing practice essays and revising their class notes. They said their teachers had been supportive and helpful, and that they felt well prepared for the assessments this week.
