Rugby Celebration Evening

Our rugby coaches & volunteers recently came together to celebrate a successful season with the support of Ponsonby RFC, who were also in attendance in the auditorium at St Paul’s.

Beautiful weather greeted our coaches as SPL hosted 16 coaches; volunteers; year 13 1st XV members; and Sir Brian Williams: a Ponsonby stalwart and famous All Black. He shared insights of being the first Polynesian to tour South Africa during the apartheid era, growing up on O’Neill Street “just over the fence from St Paul’s”, playing both codes before becoming an All Black at 18 years old.

A successful evening after a successful season, especially given the challenging circumstances.
