Services Academy 29 July 2022

Bushcraft Camp

On the final week of Term 2, the Services Academy headed deep into the bush in Northland for their annual Bushcraft Camp. Under the guidance and watchful eye of the NZ Defence force, our students learnt about mapping, survival skills, and navigating the harshest conditions. A true test of their resilience under challenging circumstances with no showers, no electricity and certainly none of the comforts of the big city. This camp is always a unique experience for our students and 2022 was no different, unfortunately the camp was cut short by two days as the weather closed in, making tracks slippery and not suitable for walking on with heavy packs and tents. Well done gentlemen, I'm sure it was an experience you won't forget, all the while earning valuable NCEA credits and putting yourself well outside of your comfort zone.
